Illustration Friday: Launch

This is my visual representation of launch. When I thought of launch I thought of a frog jumping off a lily pad, i'm not sure why i thought of that, I just did. The entire thing is oil pastel on top but I colored it with color pencil underneath to give me an idea of what it was going to look like first then used the oil pastels to finish it off.

Kitchen Contour Line and composition

This is my attempt at a contour line composition for the five kitchen objects. My 5 objects are tongs, scissors, and ice cream scoop, a large fork, and a measuring cup. Overall, i liked my balance with nothing to heavy or light on either side, though i didn't really have a visual focus. I was trying to make my tongs the focus but failed miserably in that regard. I'm not sure i mastered the contour line excercises but i gave it my best effort and learned a lot. I understand the concepts but still need to improve my hand-eye-paper coordination and my outlining abilities are definitely lacking. In the end though,  I felt that i did my best on this piece of artwork!:D

Contour Drawings- Hand and Shoe

These are my contour drawings for my hand and shoe. My favorite is the shoe because the lines show dimension and make it look very realistic, whereas my hand is probably not very realistic looking but was the best i could do in 5 minutes. I realized when drawing these that it is very hard to just draw what you see and not from memory or from what you think is there. I left these objects in the same position from the blind contour drawings so they would look similar and feel even though they aren't fantastic they are a huge step up from my blind contour drawings.

Blind Contour Drawings- Hand and Shoe

This is my attempt at blind contour line drawings of my hand and my shoe.I set up the objects so it was slightly raised and easy for me to see. They are completely unproportional to the original objects but have curves especially in the shoe better than I could draw by looking at it, which I think is interesting. The hardest thing about these drawings is not looking at what your drawing while drawing them and knowing even before you finish that they look disastrous but overall for a first attempt I thought they looked pretty good.

Illustration Friday: Stir

This is my interpretation of the prompt stir. I was thinking what I like to stir and I remembered my favorite thing is tomato/alphabet soup because you can arrange the letters to form words. I know I'm such a nerd but really who doesn't love playing with their food. Anyway, the bowl, soup, and spoon are color pencil and the background is water color. I wanted to try the shaving cream food coloring thing but haven't had the time, so maybe i'll use that later down the line.
